WHY NOT PLASTIC?

We all know that plastic is bad for the environment, but what can be so shocking is just how bad it is. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in our ocean, and that plastic will take hundreds of years to degrade.

THE BIODEGRADABLE PLASTIC MYTH

Even when plastic does degrade into smaller components, it may never disappear. For thousands of years, it may only break down into smaller and smaller pieces – down to the molecular level – releasing potentially toxic chemicals as it does so.Sea life is already ingesting these ‘microplastics’ and incorporating it into their bodies... and so are we. The long term effects of this accumulation of plastic in our stomachs (and for even smaller pieces, our very cells) are unknown.
